Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) has taken a significant step forward in advancing higher education and research by initiating a series of highly specialized Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in both medical and dental sciences. These newly introduced programs include PhD in Surgery, PhD in Medicine, PhD in Prosthodontics, PhD in Operative Dentistry, PhD in Dental Public Health, and PhD in Dental Materials.

This initiative represents a landmark achievement, as several of these programs are being offered as standalone PhD degrees for the first time in Pakistan. Traditionally, doctoral education in these fields has been limited to broader disciplines such as basic medical sciences or general dentistry, with clinical specialties addressed through professional qualifications.
